A bitcrusher is an audio effect that  degrades the quality of a sound ( like crushes it ) and reduces its bit depth and sample rate and gives it that crunchy, lo-fi, old school style. It's the effect behind those classic 8-bit video game sounds or even newer era like ps1 or n64, and also these days it is used in PSX games and we use it in our games too.
